When considering adding an extension to existing stables, providing new buildings, a Ménage or Arena facilities, or even just extending an existing area of yard or hardstanding, in most instances planning permission would be required.
By their very nature, most Equestrian facilities lie within areas designated as countryside, but often your site will also fall within a National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and/or Green Belt. These areas all have their own unique Planning Policies that any proposal would be considered against. These policies often vary for each Local Planning Authority.
